Solidcore Releases Solution Pack for BMC Software Resellers

Change Control Package Helps VARs Demonstrate Increased ROI by Driving All Infrastructure Changes through BMC Remedy Change Management

PALO ALTO, Calif., June 25, 2007 — Solidcore® Systems, Inc., a leading provider of change control for critical systems, today announced a Change Control Solution Pack to help BMC Software value-added-resellers (VARs) and integrators quickly demonstrate increased return on their BMC Remedy Change Management solution investment by enforcing change policies with Solidcore's S3 Control™ software.  The Solution Pack benefits BMC resellers by streamlining and accelerating the deployment of Solidcore's S3 Control software, and benefits enterprise IT organizations by providing change policy enforcement capabilities that drive all change through the BMC Remedy Change Management process.

The Solidcore S3 Control Solution Pack for BMC resellers is an extension of Solidcore's Solidified-for-Change™ partner program for VARs and systems integrators that deliver IT optimization, service management and compliance solutions.  In addition to providing sales training, pre- and post-sales support, and a variety of joint marketing programs, the Solidcore S3 Control Solution Pack for BMC resellers specifically includes:

  • The Solidcore Change Enforcement Module for BMC Remedy Change Management – Solidcore's automated Change Enforcement Module enables IT organizations using BMC Remedy Change Management to selectively enforce change policy based on approved BMC Remedy change tickets, approved change time-windows and programs authorized to make changes.  The software automates the process of ensuring all changes have been tested and pass through the appropriate approval process within the BMC Remedy Change Management solution prior to deployment.
  • Technical Certification Training – Solidcore's certification training will enable BMC channel partners to accelerate their technical knowledge of Solidcore's change control products via individual product training.  The training will cover product architecture, installation, configuration, management and reporting.
  • Quick-Start Toolkit – This quick-start toolkit helps accelerate the interest and deployment of Solidcore's change control software with co-marketing funds, a return-on-investment (ROI) calculator, demonstration materials with scripts, and third-party validation collateral to help get channel partners up-to-speed on Solidcore quickly.

"BMC Remedy IT Service Management is critical to the operational success of our customers' business, and ensuring that all change activity goes through the BMC Remedy Change Management process is essential," said David Savino, vice president of technical services for Column Technologies, BMC Software's 2006 Partner of the Year.  "Uncontrolled and unmonitored change is happening at every account we run into, and customers are shocked to discover how pervasive and ingrained the ad hoc behavior is.  Solidcore is helping customers with immediate visibility into this change activity conducted 'beneath the radar' or outside of the established change control policies."

The Solidcore Change Control Solution Pack leverages Solidcore's existing Technology Alliance Partnership with BMC, which helps streamline and accelerate the integration of Solidcore's change control software with the BMC Remedy Change Management solution.  In addition to Column Technologies, one of the most prominent BMC Remedy IT Service Management resellers, other leading change management resellers throughout the world will also be able to utilize the Solution Pack, including Nashco and VIA Information Tools in North America, Selesta in Italy, NessPRO in Spain, and Syscom in Norway, Sweden and Denmark.

Solidcore's S3 Control software interoperates with the BMC Remedy Change Management solution by providing enforcement capabilities on the end-point and linking enforcement to the BMC Remedy change process.  Solidcore's change control software ensures that only changes approved through the BMC Remedy Change Management solution are deployed on production systems and that specific maintenance windows are enforced.  The software can also highlight differences in changes deployed in staging and production environments.  This is done by tracking changes in a staging environment and creating a manifest ticket to be used for production implementations.  Solidcore S3 Control compares changes on the staging server and production server, and updates the request for change (RFC) in BMC Remedy Change Management with the corresponding change data.  An exception report listing any extra and missing changes is also generated.

"Implementing change management is a significant step for an IT organization to drive in-process change, but often does not account for emergency and ad hoc change activity that can elude the change management process and creates costly service outages," said Lori Budin, vice president of channels for Solidcore.  "Solidcore's Change Control Solution Pack for BMC Remedy Change Management will help BMC resellers more quickly demonstrate the value of change control to their customers by maximizing the percentage of in-process change across the organization and eliminating undocumented ad hoc change."
